About

Loughtagalla is perhaps best known as the site of the Battle of Thurles in 1174, and was once home to the most lethal playground roundabout in the world.

It is also the location of the most famous water tower in Ireland. (We don’t actually know if this is true, but if it isn’t it should be.)

Loughtagalla water tower. It’s famous, you know.

The Loughtagalla Times is edited by award-winning writer and journalist John Keogh. The award in question was the runner-up prize in a Jason Donovan lookalike contest in 1989, but that’s beside the point. He is a former columnist and film critic for the Tipperary Star and the Clare Champion, and his byline has appeared in the Irish Independent, the Irish Times, and Hot Press magazine, among many others. He has also published short stories, and is a credited screenwriter.
